Victim Advocate – Full-Time Position James M. Barrie Center for Children, Etowah County Children’s Advocacy Center – Gadsden, AL
At the James M. Barrie Center for Children, our mission is to bring hope, healing, and justice to children and families impacted by abuse. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Victim Advocate to join our dynamic, multidisciplinary team. This is not just a job- it’s a calling for someone who truly loves serving children and families in their most vulnerable moments.
As a Victim Advocate, you will often be the very first point of contact for children and caregivers walking through our doors. Your role will be to provide support, guidance, and reassurance during what may be the most difficult day of their lives. This position requires empathy, resilience, and a heart for making a lasting difference.
What We’re Looking For:
- A mission-driven professional with a bachelor’s degree in social work, counseling, or a related field.
- Experience working with children and families through a Children’s Advocacy Center, DHR, law enforcement, or a comparable agency.
- Strong communication skills with both children and adults, along with organizational and computer proficiency.
- A team player who values collaboration, flexibility, and high-quality service.
- Knowledge of child development, child abuse dynamics, and crisis response.
- Comfort working alongside our beloved facility dog, who is an important member of our healing team.
